Fischbach is the first Republican to hold this district’s seat in thirty years. Fischbach was first elected to office in 1996 during a special State Senate election following the incumbent Senator, Joe Bertram, resigning from office. She served until 2018; in that time, she served as State Senate President (first woman) twice.
